Hi Debbie! Not sure if this helps, but here is how my girlfriend "proposed" to me: She didnt! She just looked at me with her oh-so-big-oh-so-loving-green-eyes in an oh-so-wunderfully-romantic way for five minutes – I just couldn’t do anything else than proposing to her… This happened on Saturday, July 29th, 1995 in Geneve in Switzerland during our summer vacation, and we bought rings together the next Wednesday, back home in Hamburg, Germany. And one more thing: I never was into jewelry at all, not a bit! But without the golden ring, I immediately feel alone and sad. I can’t live without this ring almost like I cannot without her! Go for it!  It worked well with me!  If he is in need of a new watch, maybe buying a nice one and having it engraved would be a comparable engagement symbol.
