Ring Bearer

Question:

When my fiance was younger, he was a ringbearer and there had been fake rings on the pillow and he lost one, he was so scared because he thought he had lost one of the wedding rings and that everyone would be mad at him.  I think that fake rings is a much better idea, but don’t tell the child unless they lose one, that way they might be more careful.        No, Laurie.  The Ring Bearer carries a pillow that has fake rings ties to it on a ribbon…the Bets Man carries the real rings.  UNLESS the real rings are SEWN to the pillow and the Best man assits the Ring Bearer with a tiny pair of scissors.         Susan

Response:

it’s very common to use fake rings on the ring bearer’s pillow (and entrust the real ones to the best man!)

Response:

At our wedding the ring bearer did not have real rings in the box, not because we didn’t trust him, but because we didn’t trust  ourSELVES to pick them up without fumbling them. I wore Himself’s on my thumb, and he wore mine halfway down his little finger — that way we each placed the ring we were giving to the other on the paten (if that’s what the plate is called?)

What I’ve seen (at the one wedding I’ve been to with a ring-bearer) was the ring safety-pinned to the little pillow. It’s easy to get the ring off, and they used one of those little pins, so it wasn’t really visible from any distance. Seemed to work pretty well for them.         -Ren.

Response:

At my wedding the Pastor held on to the rings and my ring bearer (4 years old) had a beautiful pillow with fake rings attached.  That way no matter how much he acted up nothing would be lost. Does anyone actually attach the rings to the : pillow the ring bearer carries?         My fiance at age 7 was the ring bearer at his aunt and uncle’s wedding, and he carried the real rings.  He feels very strongly that our ring bearer (his nephew, who will be 6 by the time of our wedding), should carry the real rings as well.  I don’t see any difficulty with this as long as an adult is watching over the rings before the processional!                                 Jill

You don’t have to tie your actual rings to the pillow.  According to the wedding planner I got,  you can still leave that up to the BM and the MOH.

Response:

Laurie, We had a 3 1/2 year old ring bearer who carried a pillow with the actual rings attached. It was fine. He walked in with his 3 year old cousin who was the flower girl. These kids are pretty mature for their age, so we were never worried. Make sure the kids are at the rehearsal, though. I would have been a little nervous about them if they hadn’t walked through it. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > I am the maid of honor in my friends wedding and they are having a ring > bearer who is 5 years old.
