At first, I thought my wife was clawing up the inside of our accords door handles… I detailed and waxed the car myself a few days ago, and discovered that the back part of our 2003 accords door handles… ALL FOUR… had fine scratches on them… I then thought "We never use the back seats (no kids) my wife rarely wears her wedding ring (encouraging herself to lose wieght) and I never drive the thing" I can only assume that this area of the car gets wierd airflow, and air is circulating inside and fine debris stays in there scratching it up. As hard as this is to beleive, take my corvette for example, 1992 (for sale by the way, if interested). The tail lights get dirty right after you wash them if you drive more than 100 yards… in the corvette group, people complain of this all the time, it is because air somehow comes back up the back of the vette and dirt and road grime can settle in the light wells. When we bought my engagement ring we got a size 7 and knew it would have to be resized. We took the ring to wal-mart today and told them we wanted to resize it. The lady figured out my size (6- on the system they use)  and she also started looking to see if they had a 6 in the same ring.  She handed the exact same ring to me and told me it was a 6.  We exchanged the rings and I look at the tag after I get out of the store and it is a size 7.  The exact same size I just exchanged because it was too big. How hard is it to tell the difference between a 6 and 7?  It states it right on the tag.  I think when I exchange the ring again I’m going to a different Wal-Mart.

Well, you could have simply tried it on before you left the store.  If the tag was so obvious why didn’t YOU notice it?

Re-sizers cost all of $8 (although my jeweler just sighed and put it on free, as he hates them but it *was* the right solution for us). And that leaves some room on the hand for the inevitable swelling/weight gain that comes with pregnancy. Getting wedding rings cut off is such a PITA. Jen

Diane, I dont know what to say except, I hope you are taking care of yourself during this time. Its difficult and I know I felt selfish when under similar circumstances I had to deal with the issue. I finally explained it to my brothers and would just leave and go spend time by myself. A park, a lake, a cathedral if there is a nice one around. Anywhere away from everyone else. Its hard but when you are able to find time to not think about the problems it helps you when you do have to think about them. johnie

He was supposed to go to washington DC but we had a little war still going on. My grand mother had sliped into a coma and was not expected to live. MY son had planed on this trip for a long time. A day or two after he left my grandfather was put in the hospital. My grandmother died and 2 days later my grandfather died on the same day she was to be berried. WE had a double furnel and my son missed the whole thing. HE had a great time and the break did him good. He got to see the Braves play baseball. God Bless all of your family.     Judy A. V.

Since we are having a memorial service and a cremation with no viewing, we have decided to have Nicholas spend as much time with his Papa Joe before he goes and hold the service when he gets back, if that’s how things work out. I think you should be able to get Nick a sleepsack at any large sporting goods/backpacking/travel store. If you had the time (and inclination…I don’t) you could make one out of a flat flannel sheet by just sewing the bottom and sides together. {{{{{Diane, Joe & family}}}}}  Steve and I are sending thoughts of peace and comfort to you and yours.  Don’t forget to take care of yourself while you are taking care of everyone else.  I’m sure Joe knows the seriousness of the situation enough to make his peace with the universe, even if he hasn’t heard the doctor’s prognosis in so many words.  It may be that he understands that your sibs can’t discuss it right now, and hasn’t acknowledged anything plainly for their sake.  Letting everyone know how he wants his things to be distributed could be his way of telling you that he knows without coming right out and saying so.  My mom never expressed in words that she knew she was dying, but she found a silent way to let me know.  My wedding ring had become too small for me, so I had started wearing it on a chain around my neck.  One day after her nurse left, Mom took her wedding rings off her hand and put them on mine.  Neither of us needed to say anything. I thought I’ve give an update on Joe.  I’m so exhausted from looking over Joe at the nursing home and taking care of Mom.  I slept today till 2:00 with the exception of getting up for breakfast and taking my meds and a few phone calls around 9am.  Then we went to the nursing home and I just got home!  I’m gonna lay low tomorrow maybe taking Nick to the Mall around 3 for some shorts and stuff for Lacrosse camp. He leaves Thurs for his 10 day camp at Annapolis.  Oh, and a portable fan too!  Do you know if they make sleeping bag sheets?  He gets prickly heat from sleeping in his sleeping bag in only his boxer shorts. I’m so worried that Joe will die while he’s away. Nick said he wanted to come home if he did but my Mom said since Joe will be cremated that we can wait and have to memorial service when everyone is back in town.  I don’t know how these things work. I’ve never had to arrange a funeral or cremation before.  Nick and Papa Joe as he’s called are very close and I know this is very hard on him.  Yet Nick has been looking forward to Annapolis since he applied last March.  Every day it’s Navy, Navy Navy……Not everyone made it…..he’s one of 4 on his team that made it. A few didn’t.  So I don’t want him to miss this opportunity.  I’m making sure he visits every day and am trying to get him to talk from his heart before he leaves on Thurs. Joe’s still about the same. Up and down. They’ve added more morphine to his nebulizer to ease the sensation of not being able to breath. His appetite is still good but he’s anemic and they are giving him a nutritional supplement in liquid form every day. He’s sleeping a lot more and the nurses say it’s from the morphine but the Dr said it’s not.  He’s still in major denial and thinks he can come home if he has an electric wheelchair and will be able to go back to work in his home office. We tell him everyday he’s not strong enough to come home cause Mom can’t take care of him by herself and he can’t even transfer alone or stand up.   No one else in my family will tell him the truth about how bad he is.  He still thinks he can get better if he keeps getting rehab. Of course when he takes the morphine he feels better and thinks he’s getting better. Today I told him that just because he feels better doesn’t mean his lungs are better because the COPD and cancer have damaged his lungs very bad and that damage is not reversible.  I hope it sinks in. The stupid pulminologist told him they might be able to seal his lungs which is a joke cause they have to do general anesthesia for that and the doctors have been telling us for 5 years that he can’t have that.  Also, it’s supposed to be VERY painful for 4-5 days afterwards and they wouldn’t be able to give him a high enough dose of morphine for that without suppressing his respiration levels.  So it’s not good for him. And the chance that it would actually work is slim.  I told him that the degree of damage right now to his lungs is such that he might want to start considering that he’s going to have some fluid in there and that it will always be there. I don’t know about 20 years, but I’ve been married over 10, and I still look at our wedding pictures, both the professional and the amateur. Too many folks who were there at our wedding have died in the meantime: how do I explain to my kid who my godmother’s husband is, and what place he had in my life, without a picture to anchor the image? Too, with our mobile society, we’ve moved cross-country twice since we married, and I don’t get the chance to see those dear people very often anymore.  Hence, the desire for pictures. > We could take a picture of us in the backyard wearing jeans and t-shirts and > I would still love him just the same.  I don’t need to wear a big fluffy > white dress and have my picture taken 1000 times to say "I love you."

True.   The way it worked out, I have *one* picture of me and my FIL.  It was taken when I first met him, and it’s a lousy picture, but I keep it anyway.  Why?  He died before we could get married.  (He got the chance to see the wedding rings we bought, but didn’t last long enough to see us use them.) woo hoo, just got an email from my sweetie that our rings are in!  he’s going to go get his sized, and do the engraving!!  i am so excited! we’re going with very plain rings, both platinum, both comfort fit round…mine is 3 mm.  my e-ring is a 3-stone setting oOo, set very low…i was looking for a ring with stones, but also wanted something that i could wear on its own (not a ring curved to fit)…and the plain just looks wonderful, and also fits my idea of what a wedding ring *should* look like (both my parents have plain bands, i guess that’s where i got it!).  nik’s is 6 mm, plain comfort fit round platinum! Hi again – I have started a NC wedding ring after reading your posts.
