Engraving wedding bands
Question:
Well, it’s done! My fiance and I ordered our wedding bands tonight.
We want to engrave the inside of the bands. There’s not alot of room inside my band, so I was thinking we’d engrave our initals and the date. But here’s the question … should I use my maiden initials or married initials?? And what order should we put them? His initials / date / my initials? His initials / my initials / date? And so on ….. What is everyone else doing??? Who would’ve ever thought I’d be worrying about all these minute details?!?! Debbie — ~~~Laughter is the human body wagging its tail~~~

On my ring we had ABC(him) to XYZ(me) and the date. His ring was XYZ to ABC and the date. We used my maiden name because, until it was on, we weren’t married. (well…you know what I mean) Mrs. M To reply via e-mail, remove "nospam" from the address.

I agree with Mrs. M. My mother’s maiden initials were PSJ. My dad’s initials are JLC. So mom’s ring says "JLC to PSJ Jul.25, 1970" Dad’s says "PSJ to JLC Jul.25, 1970". Another option: Do you two have a special saying or song, etc? Our (my husband’s and mine) song is "Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye" (an old song, now redone by Neal McCoy). One of the lines in the song is "Kiss me each morning for a million years…" So on all our letters to each other, we include "1,000,000" at the bottom. For our anniversary we are going to have that engraved inside our rings. (We didn’t have time before the wedding!!) My friend and her husband had this personal thing between themselves (well–it WAS personal until I told everyone in this NG!!) where they would say something about, "I love you–no but’s." So they had "No But’s" engraved in their rings! Be Creative!! You don’t HAVE to use initials! We are currently having our bands hand engraved. We are doing maiden initials and the date. His initials first on my band and my initials first on his. Best wishes, Ivette (& Joel, April 24, 1998)

When we had our wedding bands engraved we just used the initials for my first and middle names as well as the initials for my fiance’s first and middle names along with the date. So both our rings are engraved "MM & LJ 10/3/98" In essence, we left out the initial for both our last names. Marianne & Larry 10/03/98

My ring is older and there is no room for engraving, but I did get my fiance’s done (just picked it up today!) His name is David which means beloved so his reads "8/8/98 My beloved is mine" (taken from the Bible verse.

I just became engaged on Sunday (4/5). We have not yet picked out rings, but I would adore finding some great way to engrave something on his ring that is very special. I was not raised in a religous setting, but would like to consider a similar idea to yours. My fiance’s name was taken from the bible. His name is Daniel, though he goes by Dan. Any ideas would be wonderful! Thank you, Paula Paula
