winter theme — please help
Question:
use "winter" fabrics for your dress and the bm dresses if possible: velvet, brocade, fur trim. Ice sculptures, ice skates, ice castles, icicles, are some ideas for the reception. Some of this type of theme you should be able to find on sale after Xmas as not all Xmas decorations are strictly Xmas (many are winterish). here is a link to the Xmas wedding FAQ. There are some ideas there you could incorporate that aren’t strictly Xmas ideas. http://www.mindspring.com/~thinds/jmh/xmaswedFAQ.htm good luck! Heather

Just some random thoughts on winter weddings (non-Christmas)… – icicle shape Christmas lights (should be available in most stores) – ice blue, navy, white, silver and lavender, maybe touch of pale yellow – candles, candles, everywhere! – velvet gown, Queen Anne collar, open sleeves – snowflakes – swags of tulle/silver fabric on tables and walls – bouquet of white flowers with blue accent flowers – hors d’oeuvres reception with a dessert buffet – masquerade ball with ornate masks and fancy dress – fur-lined collars and cuffs, headbands – bridesmaids carry muffs instead of bouquets – frost on the windows – sleigh with snow around the base, or a sleigh ride! How’s that for a start? HTH! Hard to suggest not knowing a little more…. Which winter are you marrying? What kind of location(s) are you considering? How formal/ what mood do you plan? What’s the budget? How many guests? What type of reception? Contact me personally or post here, and I’ll be happy to make some suggestions. Sara Ambarian www.netcom.com/~ambarian

If this is *winter* rather than xmas, I think it would be *great* fun to decorate! I’d put little diamond- or square-shaped mirrors on the reception tables and sprinkle them with glittery-iridescent fake-snow stuff, and put glass bowls on top of them with pale blue or silver or white candles inside, or those clear oil candle-thingies. And for the wedding attire…I’d think "ice princess" as a theme…use a tiara as a headpiece, "glass slippers," and depending on your color theme (I’d go with either an "icy" blue or navy and silver), you could get the men in the party to look wintery too. just some suggestions. -crys — ….and the cloud forest around me hummed with the music of contentedness….

thanks for the wonderful suggestions… I love the ice princess idea… I haven’t seen any suitable gowns though, but I’m still looking… I was originally considering silver, but icy blue sounds tempting… Lally
