Songs Question
Question:
>Does anyone have a list of songs people have chosen for the >bridal dance, bride and her father, groom and his mother, >etc.? My finacee and I are having an extensive debate about >what to choose, and she asked me to ask all of you about >what you chose or have seen done.
For our bridal dance we will foxtrot to Ella Fitzgerald singing "Love Is Here To Stay" ("The rockies may crumble, Gibraltar may tumble, they’re only made of clay; but our love is here to stay…"). We will probably combine the bride/father, groom/mother dance since my fiance is not very keen on being on the dance floor and in the spotlight (it was all I could do to get him to agree to dancing to begin with
. I’m leaning towards "Sunrise, Sunset" from Fiddler on the Roof. It’s probably over-done, and it doesn’t fit in with our jazz/big band dance music, but I’ve always loved that song since the fifth grade when I first heard it. Good luck — Audrey Forster

Shameless/Billy Joel When You Wish Upon A Star/??? (I’m not sure who sings that as a real song) First Time/Surface Beauty and The Beast from the Disney Album/Peabo Bryson (?) and Celine Dion >bride and her father, >groom and his mother,
Evergreen The Time of Our Lives Wind Beneath my Wings You Decorate My Life >etc.? My finacee and I are having an extensive debate about >what to choose, and she asked me to ask all of you about >what you chose or have seen done.
When we were choosing songs for the bridal dance and for the bridal party dance, we tried to choose songs that no one *ever* chooses. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->Thanks! >– >John Senger Jackie >If we weren’t all crazy, we would go insane

Well, after long hard though Dan and I have picked all of the ‘honor dance’ music for our wedding. We will be having ballroom dancing with mostly 40’s and 50’s music. Our dance together is a waltz to "Hello Young Lovers" from "The King and I" I knew that I would cry my eyes out if I danced with my dad to anything even moderatly serious so I chose an old 1940’s song called "Daddy" that I think is hilarious. The lyrics go like this: Daddy, I want a diamond ring, and bracelets, everything oh, Daddy, you want to get the best for me Daddy, Won’t I look good in sables and clothes with Paris labels? oh Daddy, you want to get the best for me Daddy, I want a brand new car and champagne, caviar oh, Daddy, you want to get the best for me We heard it first at a play my parents took us to and it has been stuck in my head ever since, when I finaly heard it on record I knew that it was perfect at a father/daughter dance, especially for a spoiled rotten baby like me! Dan is leaning heavily toward "My Mama Done Told Me." for his dance with his mom just to stay on the same cutsie/silly theme. We have a recording of it by a man, so it goes: A woman’s a two face, a curious thing that’ll leave you to sing the blues. instead of being "a man is a two face…" Oher than that we are looking for a dj with oldies music, or we may end up using our own, Dan’s dad has a huge library of original and reproduction oldies music. We plan on doing a lot of waltz, foxtrot, swing, cha-cha, tango, and rhumba. No shag though, I gave myself a nasty case of tendonitis in my hip doing the shag. Joan — Joan C.
