Schreve, Crump & Low

Question:

we bought my engagement ring at Shreve Crump and Low, had excellent service, and got a terrific ring. We saw a setting that we liked that originally had a green garnet as the center stone (with two emerald cut diamonds, one on either side). Actually the salesperson we worked with listened to what we were saying about what we liked and disliked about the ruby and sapphire rings I tried on, and then went over to the case of semi-precious stones, pulled this one out and asked if this was really the kind of setting that we were looking for. It was exactly the right thing, with the wrong stone. So she found (within two days) an emerald cut sapphire, which is what we really wanted, in approximately the same size and proportion, and had the green garnet taken out and put the sapphire in. Then she shipped the ring to us (we live in LA but both lived in Boston for a long time and were there for a wedding:)) in record time. It was a great experience, and not as expensive as  I thought it would be. I really liked working with someone who listens. I know that they have a lot of repeat customers, and that says something good to me. Anita (and Andreas) Sept 15, 1996

Anyone bought or planning to buy a wedding ring at Shreve Crump & Low?  Any comments on them?  Thanks — Junko

Haven’t purchased there yet, but am planning on it.  We found a one-of-a-kind ring there that we know is for us.  I found the staff there to be very helpful, and knowledgeable.  I do happen to know a designer who *used* to work there, and he warned me that they are terribly overpriced.  He suggested purchasing you diamond elsewhere, and then using one of their settings. Good luck! Sara (& Brent)
