One month and counting

Close enough :)  Especially where my stress level is concerned :P  I can absolutely handle the idea of it being a month away–in fact, if it were tomorrow, I’d be thrilled!  Yeah! No more to-do lists! –twinkle to ms 7/7/01 31 days and counting

Mine is July 7 too, and it is now 32 days away.  Pretty much one month, sorry… ;) I can’t wait! Elise 7-7-01

I never even bothered to look at a bridal boutique for shoes.  The shoe guy that helped me said he sells tons of those Unlisted shoes to brides. FYI, Unlisted is a division of Kenneth Cole. LOL  We actually had some rather interesting argum..I mean "discussions" about that when he first did it.  It’s in Puerto Vallarta Mexico, and he,his parents, and sister/BIL jointly bought several weeks while they were all on vacation (without me) about 2 years after we started dating (we’re on 6 now, so this was a while ago).  I’ve actually been there with him, once now, and it’s a nice resort, and the weeks are guaranteed around Christmas/New Years which is impossible to get into otherwise.  I ended up using his purchase as a paper topic for a Real Estate Fiance class in college–did a lot of math and the bottom line was that he paid for 15 years of vacation accomodations up front, not counting inflation (but counting yearly maintenance fees, etc)–After inflation he came out ahead by quite a bit.  Not _my_ idea of an ideal purchase (this was also well before the house and he still has some student loan to pay back…), but not much to do now but try to make the best of it :)  Needless to say, financial matters is still one of our rough spots…. –twinkle to ms 7/7/01

If you can afford it, upgrade your room at Sandals to a concierge room. Although the room service and in-room bar doesn’t sound like a big deal, it really is.  We ate breakfast in our room a few times (when we didn’t want to deal with the buffet) and most afternoons ordered a snack after an afternoon nap.  As well, the Red Stripe beer on-tap is watered down, but in your room will be bottled beer.  I’m not a big drinker, but having water, juice and wine in the room was really nice and well worth the extra money. We had a pretty good time at Sandals (we stayed at Dunns River Falls in Jamaica) so I’m sure you’ll like it too. — Melissa 3/18/2001

LOL!  I know *exactly* what you’re talking about.  We keep saying that we just want to be _married_ already!  The two of us are handling things just fine, but our parents are driving us up the wall <g> >Everything >had either 4" heels/platforms,

I feel for you here, too.  Although I didn’t have as the difficulty as you did finding shoes (I found a great pair right before my first fitting that almost match the pattern of my dress exactly!)  I remember the first dozen or so stores I looked at all had these great shoes with super high heels.  As my fiance is only two inches taller than me, that’s not quite the look I was going for (and I can’t walk in high heels even if I was!) >I think my emotions at this point are about 20% excitement, 20% >impatience at the process

I think I’m about 50% impatient and 50% excited – I’m not stressing over much because I figure that everything will pan out eventually. <shrug> >wedding bands, seating charts, choosing food, planning the >ceremony details/music, song list for the dj, photo list for the >photographer, make the flower girls dress…..

FH’s wedding band is at the jeweler’s right now being sized for the *second* time.  The first time, they sized his finger wrong and, when he tried it on at home, the ring almost fell off.  The second time, they sized it a 1/4 size smaller – then called back the next day and said the ring was already that size and are we sure we wanted it smaller?!  FH said yes (I would have taken it to another jeweler after that phone call but, whatever..) We’ll see how it turns out this weekend. The seating charts will be worked on as soon as we get a final head count in. (Those are due next Tuesday)  We chose the food a while ago and, if my musicians didn’t have the ceremony music before now, they’d be about ready to strangle me!  (They’re friends of mine :) )  The DJ is a long time family friend as well, so I’ve been emailing him for the past month or so – we have about 4 different meetings (photgrapher, videographer, florist, and seamstress) when we go visit my mom this weekend (about 3 hours away from here) so that should be hectic, but after that there’s not *too* much to worry about! >Perhaps a nice long >soak in the tub is in order for tonight….

Ya know, you may be right there – I’ve found that, lately, a bubble bath is like pure heaven. :) Mary to Phil in 24 days!

Woohoo!  We’re in the home stretch of this darned wedding planning! The wedding’s July 7, so there’s only about 1 month left.  I must admit, at this point, I’m _really_ ready for the planning to be done and the wedding to be here!  FH and I (read: mostly I) have planned the entire thing ourselves, as both families live out of town. Despite being quite aggravated by my FH’s sense (or lack of sense, I should say) of deadlines and timelines, I’m still quite willing to marry him :) (though even his family sometimes wonders why..hehe!). We got our honeymoon booked last night.  You might be thinking that that’s kinda late notice for travel plans, and you’re right.  FH is now painfully aware of the reason I’d been bugging him about it for nearly 6 months–our original plan of using his timeshare and trading it for somewhere in the continental US failed miserably–everything is booked (doesn’t help that FH didn’t call till about 60 days out from when we wanted to go).  So instead we’re going to Jamaica–Sandals Ocho Rios (go ahead Ron, flame away if you like, but it’s our money and our vacation).  We’re leaving the Friday after the wedding and staying for a week. As for some of my other stressful planning points, I finally found a pair of shoes to wear.  I have no idea why this was so much of a pain, but after hitting several indpendant shoe stores, a bridal shop, and every shoe store and department store in the city’s largest mall (and there were a LOT of shoe stores), I hadn’t found _anything_.  I wanted fabric shoes (ivory or dyeable to ivory) in a low heel.  Everything had either 4" heels/platforms, or were made for very narrow feet (which mine are NOT), or both!  In one store, a sympathetic sales lady suggested I try an open toed style to help with the wide-foot problem–the open toed shoes looked like my feet were falling off the edges.  My feet are a little wider than standard, but not _that_ wide (I can normally find plenty of normal-width shoes that fit fine)!  I ended up finding a pair while in Chicago for the weekend for a friend’s wedding–both Marshall Fields and Lord & Taylor had several to choose from, though Marshall Field’s were all like $200–luckily L&T was much more reasonably priced.  They’re still a bit higher heel than I wanted (2" or so), but they fit and my first alterations appointment is tomorrow, so they’re what I’m wearing.  The whole process makes me really envy FH, whose shoes come with the tux from the rental shop :P I think my emotions at this point are about 20% excitement, 20% impatience at the process, and 60% stress over all the things we still have to do (wedding bands, seating charts, choosing food, planning the ceremony details/music, song list for the dj, photo list for the photographer, make the flower girls dress…..)  Perhaps a nice long soak in the tub is in order for tonight…. –twinkle to ms 7/7/01
