Well, I’m not a DC lady, and I’ve been seriously remiss in keeping up with the latest threads, but I wanted to comment in case you haven’t found anyone yet. For personalized service may I recommend Achikian Goldsmiths in Herndon?  They do wonderful work, and being a small company you really get a personal touch.  They do custom design as well as all kinds of repair work.   Here’s their address and contact information: ACHIKIAN GOLDSMITHS 131 Church St NW Vienna, Va  22180 http://www.achikian.com/ (703) 255-2255    Office (800) 883-4044    Toll Free (703) 255-2272    Fax They will have a booth at the bridal show at the Patriot Center on March 26th, and you can get a free ticket for the show from them, (or if they are out I still have a few I could mail out). — The Jim Bowie Band – Gaithersburg, MD http://www.JimBowieBand.com President – Association of Wedding Professionals

Are you willing to travel to northern Virginia?  There is a very, very good jeweler in Great Falls, VA.  I am somehow blanking on the name right now, but his shop is in the same shopping center as The Old Brogue pub, and is right next to the restaurant Indigo. My family has had him work on many pieces of jewelry, and he’s made some jewelry for us too.  In fact, I’m soon going to take my rings to him for some work and he just sold my sister a sapphire that he set into a ring that was my mother’s original engagement ring.  I would definitely trust him to work on your ring.  He’s very skilled, and I would trust him also to tell you if he didn’t feel comfortable doing the work you need done.  If you want me to look up the exact name of the shop, or if you want the family names to drop, just email me (trust me, he’ll recognize the names, particularly as my sister was just in there herself and, even more so, she had just referred someone else in there who dropped a huge sum on an engagement ring for his fiancee who had admired my sister’s ring and wanted one just like it–only bigger! ;-) Hope this helps, Ericka Kammerer
